About Stemple Music...

Currently we have all instruments in stock for rental. First come first serve.

Stemple Music, Inc. opened its doors at 1618 Harrison Ave., Jeannette, PA in September of 1979.  Beginning solely as a band instrument repair shop, referrals from satisfied customers have grown our business and allowed us to expand our services to provide the new student musician with a practical, affordable rent-to-own instrument program.

With a world-class band instrument repair shop, including all of the latest tools,
equipment and technology, we still rebuild, restore and refinish the old-fashioned way with meticulous attention to detail. As pro musicians ourselves, we know what it takes to make them play correctly. It is also our intention to educate our customers on care and maintenance of their instruments to help prevent unnecessary and costly repairs.

We also have a full line of pro and student accessories for your instruments, from reeds and mouthpieces to cleaning and maintenance supplies and method books. Included are brand names most musicians recognize like Antigua,Vandoren, Yamaha, Rico, Eastman, Rovner, Selmer, Bach, John Packer, and many others.

Many local customers come in and are surprised to see instruments from IUP, Seton Hill University, and many other area school districts. We also do work for many other music stores and professional musicians from all across the country, who consider our work to be second-to-none.

With our fast top quality repair service, as well as our family owned business style of customer care, we have set the standard for how business ought to be.

About our owner, founder and head repair technician:

Tim Stemple, began his career in instrument repair after completing his education at Western Iowa Tech in 1973.  Stemple Music had its humble beginning in the basement/garage/shed of his home.  With the help of friends and family, Tim bought and completely remodeled our present location in 1979.  In the past 49 years,  with a wife, two kids, and now 4 grand children, a house, and a career as a  musician, he somehow managed to hone his repair skills.

Tim's musical career began at age 6 as a banjo player, following in his father's  footsteps.  His first dollar was earned with "The Little Lads", a group of 6, 7, and 8 year old musicians.  He continued playing music in the school band program , playing clarinet, saxophone, string bass, and guitar.  It wasn't until Stemple Music opened its doors, that he began playing tuba and other brass instruments.  He put his tuba and sax skills to good use when the Jeannette Centennial Band was formed in 1988.

Although the Jeannette Centennial Band (now the Jeannette Community Band) was formed for Jeannette's  Centennial celebration, the group is still together today. Tim is also still performing with the German group Alpen Glow, and the Haus band  playing guitar, banjo, sax, clarinet and tuba.  The combination of a family, a musical career, and owning a business has resulted in his musical and business maturity, as well as a much longer forehead. : )
